mod-PATH3DU, developed by S.S. Papadopulos and Assoc and University of Waterloo, is a particle tracking code for calculating the three-dimensional flow pathlines and travel time of solute particles. It supports the latest MODFLOW releases including the MODFLOW-USG and MODFLOW 6.

GroundWater Desktop offers the full support for mod-PATH3DU including:

  • Setting particle tracking parameters.
  • Preparing input files.
  • Generating particle starting locations.
  • Running the particle tracking and 3D Capture Analysis.
  • Visualizing the outputs

In addition to the running particle tracking and generating the pathlines, GWD has an option to generate 3D capture grids by running mod-PATH3DU endpoint simulation with particles released at the centers of the regular 3D grid..
