Three-Point Gradient

Determine the direction and magnitude of groundwater flow by fitting a planar surface to three selected data points (e.g., monitoring wells). The tool calculates the potentiometric slope and generates a vector arrow indicating the flow direction.

The Three-point gradient traingles supports Property Annotation as well as Linear and Polar Charts (where applicable).

There are two types of triangulation options:

  • The Same Triangulations for all Events: Uses a fixed set of well triplets. The software only generates triangles for wells that have valid water level data present across all selected events. Best for maintaining strict consistency when comparing flow changes over time at specific, unchanging locations.
  • Update Triangulations for Each Event: Dynamically generates new triangles for every individual event based on whatever water level data is available at that specific time. Best for maximizing data coverage in datasets where some wells may be dry or unmeasured during certain time periods.
